"She is too fond of books, and it has turned her brain." -- Louisa May Alcott

I mentioned yesterday that I was sure I'd be receiving a few books for my birthday. I ended up with a little more than a few:

After taking the picture, I realized I had a third pile of books that I had completely forgotten to photograph. (I blame the shock and sheer joy of receiving more than 25 books in one day for this oversight.)

It's going to be impossible to choose what to read first, so I'm open to suggestions. The list is here, tagged quite appropriately as "birthday overload" on LibraryThing.

In addition to overwhelming book joy, I'm also in DVD heaven:

That's Torchwood Series 1, Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie, and all nine seasons of The X-Files. (Marathon time!)

Best. birthday. ever.

  1. Happy Birthday - what a haul!!

I'm a huge fan of Margaret Atwood - I'd start with The Handmaid's Tale, then America America (I haven't read it, but can't wait to get in on the buzz). Then you've knocked off Canada and the US. Maybe head across the Pond to The Other Boleyn Girl?

  2. p.s. how could I have not added how much I liked the title of your post?!

  3. Looks like you got some great stuff!

"The Catcher in the Rye" of course is amazing.

"Girl with the pearl earring" was also very good.

"Other boleyn girl" also great. (I do love the movie-cover version you got- that gree dress just pops!)

The Twilight series is good, and lastly the writer's market I think is good--- I haven't actually used mine yet, but the poet's market book was very helpful!

  4. The books alone are awesome, but then on top of that, those DVDs, especially the X-Files, well, heck, all three sets. I am soooooooo jealous.
