Sunday Salon: She's Only Happy When It Rains

The Sunday Salon.com
Another stormy Sunday for me. We had severe thunderstorms for most of the day, but thankfully no major damage or long power outages. (We lost power for four days two years ago, and last month we were without power for a good nine hours.) I read for most of the day, and wrote my review of The Wednesday Sisters out by hand since I couldn't use the computer.

I managed to read a little over 100 pages in The Heretic's Daughter today, and I finished both First Daughter and The Joy of Spooking earlier in the week. I loved all three. It was so nice to be migraine-free and actually make some forward progress in my To Be Read pile.

The Week in Reviews:
The Silent Gondoliers by William Goldman
What the Dormouse Said by Amy Gash

Don't forget about my giveaway for The Wednesday Sisters by Meg Waite Clayton, which runs until August 20th.

  1. I am glad the power didn't go out this time around. It does sound like the weather made for a good reading day, however.

I keep seeing mention of The Heretic's Daughter and think I may have to add that to my wish list. I will be reading First Daughter later this month and am looking forward to it.

    Have a great week!

  2. Ruth, isn't that the best thing about rainy days ... curling up with a good book!

I know I've said it before, but I just love your blog's new header image!

  3. Hey Ruth, glad you got rid of that migraine and got some reading done. We've got rainy and gloomy weather right now but it's kind of a nice break after the heat we've had. Have a great day.

Just popped by to say that I received First Daughter today. Thank you! (And thank you for shipping to Canada!)

Thanks for the postcard too, that was nice. :-)
