Bloggiesta: High Apple Pie in the Sky Hopes

This weekend I'll be participating in Bloggiesta, a 48 hour blogging marathon hosted by Natasha of Maw Books. The purpose of this event is to catch up on all those little things you've been meaning to do around your blog, whether it's writing reviews, creating backup posts for rainy days, reorganizing your post tags, tweaking your blog's layout, etc. I'm not sure how much I'll be doing since I'm a little under the weather at the moment, but here are a few of the things that I'd like to focus on this weekend:
  • Finish formatting my review archive and publish it. Done!
  • Add a contact form to my Contact page. Done.
  • Make a separate About Me page. Done.
  • Catch up on comments. Ongoing.
  • Format review posts in advance. Download cover images; copy and paste book information so that the HTML for the review is already in place when I sit down to write my review. (I do this on a regular basis, but need to catch up on it.) Done.
  • Review, review, review. I have a bit of a backlog of unwritten or partially written reviews. I'm house-sitting this weekend so I don't have access to all of my notes, but I have enough notes that I should be able to make significant progress.
  • Prepare and schedule future Quotable and Wordless Wednesday posts. Done. I now have a month's worth of reserves for both features.
My official start time is Friday, June 19, 2009; 11 AM EST. I'll probably be working in 1-2 hour blocks throughout today and tomorrow.

  1. I'm impressed that you've marked one off of your list already. Way to go!

  2. I hope you feel better! Being sick is no fun. But it looks like you are already doing great!

  3. That's a lot to do! The contact form looked fine to me, btw--you must have fixed it.

  4. You're making progress already!!!!

  5. I'm trying to get review templates done too -- finding pictures and links and stuff gets really time consuming if I'm trying to get a review done quickly, so it'll be nice to have that out of the way for a few of them. Good luck with your list!

  6. Thank you for posting about this! Wish I could participate, but I'm off at Zion National Park this weekend and blogging might be difficult.

  7. Kathy, thanks so much! I'd been working on the review archive off and on for awhile now, but it was great to get that project finally done as part of Bloggiesta.

Natasha, thanks! This has been a good activity for a day when I don't feel like doing much. Quality time with the laptop!

Heidenkind, I did fix the comment form. It took me about two hours and three more hosts to find one that I really liked (and that actually worked when I tested it).

Beth F, being able to cross things off the list is such a great feeling.

Kim, I'm hoping to get templates done for all the books I've read this year (but have yet to review) and all the books that I'll be reading over the rest of the month. I'm moving in August so any time saved now will definitely pay off later.

Debnance, enjoy your visit to Zion National Park! I wasn't familiar with the name, so I Googled it and it looks absolutely breathtaking.

  8. Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well :( But great job at getting things crossed off your list! Love this post title :)

  9. Joanne, thanks! I had "High Hopes" stuck in my head Friday morning, so it ended up being the post title. It's very satisfying to be able to cross things off the list.

  10. Wow! You've been busy on your blog! It looks nice, too. Good work! Seeing that you're a book lover, I was going to recommend you stop by my blog sometime and read about some upcomming debut authors (and enter for a chance to win a copy of the latest-interviewed author's novel), but it sounds like you're already super busy with everything you're reading and reviewing!

I like the idea of a Bloggiesta, too, though I would have guessed it to be a hiatus from blogging, not similar to spring cleaning.

  11. You have done well this weekend you did well and thank you for all your help and patience with me
